The Law of Polarity

5 minute read

The law of polarity states that everything has two “poles”, for instance good and bad, hot and cold, positive and negative, north and south, yin and yang.

However, what appears to be opposites are actually two inseparable parts of the same thing and between the poles, there is a full range of possibilities from one pole to the other. Think of hot and cold, although they’re opposites, they’re actually on the same spectrum and you cannot have one without the potential for the other.

This polarity allows us to experience life to the fullest and appreciate the good things in the world. For instance, could you appreciate joy without experiencing sadness?

In this article, I will go deep into what is the Law of Polarity and how you can use it to manifest a better life for yourself. Before I go deeper, let me just add that polarity and duality are not the same thing.

What’s the difference between polarity and duality?

Polarity and duality are different concepts. While polarities may be dual in nature, they are not a duality. What does this mean?

When we talk about duality, we say that one of the poles needs to manifest while the opposite pole remains suppressed, as if it is one pole against the other. Duality helps bringing clarity to our desires, for instance it helps express what we want against what we do not want.

In polarity, each pole has the nature of the other contained within it and there are degrees of each pole within the other. The poles are inseparable. A perfect example of this is the Ying-Yang symbol which contains a spot of white in the black (Ying) and a spot of black in the white (Yang).

Examples of polarity

  • Up and Down
  • Tall and Short
  • Rich and Poor
  • Left and Right
  • Positive and Negative
  • Fast and Slow

As you can see, these things are not separate at all, they are just two extremes of the same thing. For instance, hot and cold are two extremes of temperature and they can have different degrees in between polarities.

The Law of Polarity in your life

The Law of Polarity is always present in your life. For every action you take, there is an equal and opposite reaction, as everything comes in pairs – action and reaction. This happens with your thoughts, on a daily basis, without you even realising it. As an example, if you are focused on a specific negative polarity, you are more likely to attract negative energy in the form of events and people into your life. This is because the Law of Polarity can go hand in hand with the Law of Attraction which states that “like” attracts “like” – what you focus on, is what you get.

Learning how to master the Law of Polarity is important to govern your life instead of letting it govern you.

Fortunately, the Law of Polarity is mutable, which means that it can be transmuted by managing your thoughts and emotions and raising your vibration (check out the Hawkins scale of vibration).

This law contains a full spectrum of possibilities and regardless of where you may currently find yourself within that spectrum, you possess the ability to experience harmony and balance in each area of your life.

How to use the Law of Polarity

In life, the only thing you have total control over is your thinking, so why keep focusing on only one polarity? That’s what we usually do and most of the times we focus on a negative polarity. We may not have the power to change what life throws at us, but we can change how we view any situation.

By learning how to fully accept and surrender to whatever may show up in your life and to understand that everything works in pairs, you will be able to mold, shape, and achieve the reality you want.

The first step it to understand that there is a positive to every negative (for instance abundance is inseparable from financial lack) and you need to find the positive. Then you can focus on the positive and use the Law of Attraction to achieve what you want in life.

Remember that according to the Law of Attraction, negative thoughts lead to negative events so stop focusing on something you don’t like. Instead of lack, focus on abundance. As soon as you change your perspective everything will start to fall into place.

Switch your thinking between polarities by looking at how you are thinking, feeling, and behaving in an unhealthy negative situation. If you’re stuck in the negative, ask yourself what you are learning from the negative situation and what might be the positive alternative.

See the example below.

Negative Polarity: I’m not happy with my job and I feel stuck.

Positive Polarity: I’m happy at work.

Action: I’ll update my CV, sign up to an online course to learn new skills and look for a new job. I’ll focus on the feeling of being happy at my dream job.

Mastering the Law of Polarity requires learning how to focus, staying grounded and connected to your higher self.  Meditation is a great tool to help you stay in balance and raise your vibration to match the one of what you want to achieve.

Also be aware of the negative beliefs in your subconscious, for instance, the belief that you are not good enough to succeed or attract what you want. Shape the energy of your intentions.

Your negative beliefs resonate at the vibration of “lack”, which will end up getting you more of the same lack.

Make sure you conquer your core limiting beliefs by picking one polarity and focusing on it constantly.
