Wondering if your boyfriend is cheating on you? Deciding if you should buy a new house? Or curious if you’re going to get that new job?
In life, we must face so many important decisions all the time. Some of them are easy to make but sometimes, we don’t know where to turn, or what to do. It happens to all of us.
Amidst a crisis, we want someone to tell us that everything is going to be fine and it’s comforting to know that we are making the right decisions.
And of course, we also want to know what the outcome will be in a particular situation so that we can be emotionally prepared.
In today’s fast paced world, it’s easy to get tempted to pick up the phone and chat with a psychic or book a tarot reading to get immediate answers to our questions.
That’s great! There are so many tools at our disposal that can give us helpful insights and put us on the right track. The problem starts when we become dependent on them.
In this article, I am going to reflect on a current trend – the tarot addiction.
Signs you are addicted to tarot readings
The main sign that you might have a tarot addiction is, of course, getting too many readings. If you feel that you can’t face one week without getting a tarot reading, then you are probably entering that dangerous zone.
Another big sign that you might be addicted to tarot readings is if you are constantly looking for more reassurance. For instance, you get tarot readings from different tarot readers to confirm a specific message or outcome. By doing this, you enter a vicious cycle that can leave you more confused than ever.
If you find yourself spending hours on YouTube watching tarot readings rather then working on your projects or if you feel that you get more pleasure from them than from activities that you used to enjoy, this is another sign that it’s time to look at this issue.
Tarot readings can be super helpful and empowering but they can also become unhealthy.
So let’s look at the main causes that lead to tarot addiction.
Causes of tarot addiction
Anxiety
People who feel anxious towards their future, tend to struggle more with living in and accepting the present moment. These people tend to either cling to the past or fear the future.
Depression
People suffering from depression who have no hope in a better future, often use tools such as tarot as a source of dopamine. Unfortunately, that quick fix that you get from the tarot readings is very short lived.
Low self esteem
Low self esteem can lead to addictions as some people are unable to make certain decisions by themselves because they don’t feel confident enough in themselves. They don’t believe that they have what it takes to decide what’s best for them.
Feeling powerless
Some people do not believe that reality can be created and shaped.
They believe that their future is something set in stone, that awaits them, rather than something they could have a hand in building.
The thing is that although reality can sometimes be predictable, it is also changeable according to the choices and actions of the self and others. It’s all about the balance between free will and collective consciousness.
Not working on the self
We are all in a consciousness evolution journey. Each one of us came to Earth to learn and evolve. It’s essential that we constantly do self-development work. People who don’t do this work, as it is so much easier to wait for a future that has been predicted than being proactive at creating a better one, often are more prone to rely on external tools rather than on themselves. This can easily lead to addictions.
How to cure a tarot addiction
Some tarot professionals already have rules in place to avoid their clients to get addicted to their services. However, there are others who do exactly the opposite as they are only interested in maximizing their profits.
If you feel like you are struggling with a tarot addiction, then you can ask for professional help or try to follow some of the tips below, which can help you take your power back.
Find the cause
If you’re addicted to tarot readings, stop and think about what’s actually going on. At the root of every dependency is an issue that is unresolved.
Go within and try to find out the main cause of your addiction – Is it anxiety, depression, low self-esteem etc? Or do you feel powerless as you don’t believe you can shape your reality? For different causes, there are different solutions and a counsellor or even a friend can be a good source of support.
Ground yourself
Spending more time in Nature is a great way to feel more grounded and release stress and anxiety. Whenever you feel the urge to get a tarot reading, consider going for a walk, or spending time doing an activity you enjoy.
Meditate
Meditation can be life changing! It helps quiet your mind and raising your vibration (check out the Hawkins scale of vibration).
Learn new things
Knowledge is power. The more you know, the easier it will be to create your dream reality. Learn about things that excite you, as well as how the universe works so that you can make it work in your favour. For instance, learn how to use the Law of Attraction to attract everything you want into your life.
Develop your intuition
You can get all the answers that you usually look for in a tarot reading, from your higher self. You just need to learn how to use your own intuition. Intuition is different from your ego mind and as soon as you learn how to separate them, you become very powerful. You will start getting all the answers from within, with no need of using any external tools.
Now that you know how to deal with a tarot addiction, it’s time to do the inner work and empower yourself. You can do it!
